If you are looking for a perfect getaway for your ‘sisters before misters party’ than Phoenix, Arizona is the place to be! My sisters/mom and I decided to all meet up at this desert oasis and we had a blast! I mean there is so much to do here! Let’s just say most of our girls weekend consisted of a heck of a lot of hugging, picture taking, and most of all laughing!
It was strange to leave the kiddos and the hubby, but there is something special about being surrounded by your favorite women just doing girl things! Of course our version of a girls weekend might be different from others, as we love to hike, eat, save money, and we don’t drink! Haha! So if you are into all of these things then you will love our itinerary for a wonderful girls weekend in Pheonix/Peoria Arizona!
Where to stay?
Where else would you even consider staying on a girls weekend than at a resort and spa!? We stayed at the Cibola Vista Resort and Spa in Peoria, Arizona. First because I am a Bluegreens owner so we got a great deal staying here, but also this is one of my favorite resorts! If you would like a full out detail as to why than click here and read my review of the resort.
Some of the reasons I love this resort are the out of town location, the pools/hot tubs, the activities available, and the rooms. First off the location. Peoria is actually located in the northwestern part of the Pheonix region. I mean some people might not like that the resort is actually north of Phoenix, but it is kinda nice not to be going out to eat in the hustle and bustle; or fighting traffic to get anywhere.
Second the pools/hot tubs. Notice when I say pools and hot tubs I use it plurally. There are more than one pools and hot tubs! Not only are there 2 pools, but one of them has a waterslide, whirlpool, and a slight lazy river! So not only do you get to swim, but you get to play at the pool! Trust me, when you are in Arizona there is little else you will think of other than floating in a nice cold pool.
Third reason I love the Cibola Vista is all the activities and amenities offered. Cibola Vista is a resort and a spa! So obviously it has a spa too it! This is exactly what every girls trip needs, is a trip to the spa. Of course like I said my sisters and I are not big money spenders so we may have just had our own makeshift spa day, but it was fun to consider our options. They have facials, pedicures, massages, and all sorts of different spa treatments.
Not only can you relax in the spa, but there are so many other things to do at the Cibola Vista. There is tennis, a sunset watching area, a cactus garden, pools and hot tubs, patio games, and horseback riding! So much to do in such a short trip!
Lastly one of the reasons I love the Cibola Vista are the rooms. The rooms are spaced, comfortable, stocked, and convenient. The resort itself isn’t huge which is nice because everything is within walking distance. The rooms have laundry, full and stocked kitchens, and the biggest tub you have ever seen. I mean literally one year when I stayed at the Cibola Vista we put all 3 of our kids in the tub and let them swim in it. It is huge!
To sum it all up, we loved the Cibola Vista. It fit our girls weekend trip perfect with activities, comfort, and relaxation.

Where to eat?
People may think a girl’s weekend should just involve spa nights and pictures, but what a girl’s weekend really consists of is FOOD!! Food is the way to any woman’s heart and so of course our girl’s weekend consisted of a lot of delicious foods! Can I just say too that Phoenix, Arizona has every type of food you can think of! I love staying at the Cibola Vista because we had an oven for a Papa Murphy’s night, but we found some really delicious places to eat!
Twisted Italian
Never have I ever had macaroni and cheese with a meatball in it! Until now! I mean look at the size of this meatball too! I wouldn’t say a meatball in macaroni and cheese is good, but separate these two were so delicious. However ordering the macaroni and cheese was the inner child in me ordering.
The best part about the Twisted Italian is their giant Lasagnas! I mean we just ordered the queen size and they were bigger than our heads! I can’t imagine how big a king size would have been! Everything was SO good to. This was our classy Italian girl’s night out!

Greka Pita
What do you do when half of the girls on your weekend want Mediterranean and the other half wants Asian? Why you eat at the Greek Pitz of course! They serve Greek and Korean! So half of us got our Gyros and Baklava, while the other half had some Bulgogi and Gyozas.

Topo
What is the first thing you think of when you hear Arizona? My first thought is definitely the Saguaro Cactuses! I mean these cactuses are the best thing in Arizona! I am obsessed with them! Naturally going to Arizona I have to eat something Prickly Pear from the cactus! With how hot it gets how can you resist Prickly Pear Ice Cream!?
Besides the fact that ice cream sounds amazing in the 100 degree weather, curiosity was what led us to Topo! I had to try some Prickly Pear Ice Cream and it did not disappoint! If I were to describe the taste….strawberry starburst is what comes to mind! Tart, sweet, and delicious!

Salad And Go
I am a sucker for a good salad, so naturally we stopped by the Salad and Go. A drive thru salad restaurant! Have you ever heard of anything so genius!? I had the Jalapeño Ranch and let me tell you it was so good! Roasted chicken, bacon pieces, tomatoes, corn, pickled onions, and pepper jack cheese with an incredible Jalapeño Ranch dressing that had the perfect amount of spice to it!
Now normally I am a little nervous about fast food salads. They are usually too small, with wilted greens, and boring dressings; none of these were an issue at Salad And Go! It was so fresh, with so much flavor, and best of all it was huge! Literally it was an entire meal!
Haymaker
I honestly believe that any restaurant that serves breakfast all day is a winner in my book! I LOVE breakfast! So what if it is 3pm in the afternoon and I want a waffle, no judgement at the Haymaker! They serve breakfast all day! Now if you aren’t a breakfast fanatic like me, they of course serve all sorts of other dishes. The question is what don’t they serve here? They have everything from burgers, to sandwiches, to BBQ, to seafood. It is an all-American restaurant for everyone’s tastes needs!

Hot Daisy Pizza
Lets be for real, Phoenix is freakin hot!! I spent the majority of our trip sweating buckets. So while we were walking around admiring the murals of downtown Phoenix, we could not pass up freezing cold iced lemonade! I mean they had strawberry lemonade, regular lemonade, and raspberry lemonade! Nothing tastes so delicious in the intense heat as lemonade. Also just look at how adorable the straws are, they’re hearts!

Things to Do:
Yavapai Point Hike
So each of us picked one thing that we most wanted to do in Arizona on our girls weekend. One of my sisters wanted Mediterranean food, checked that off at the Greek Pitz. Another wanted to have a spa night, which thanks to the accommodations of the Cibola Vista we were able to enjoy! Me, I wanted to hike by as many Saguaro cactuses as possible!
We hiked the coolest hike! Lake Pleasant is a beautiful lake north of Phoenix and it is surrounded by Saguaros. There is a 3 mile hike with an amazing view of the lake and surrounded by cacti of all sorts. It was such a beautiful hike and we even saw wild burros!
This hike was very easy, I think the only reason it was ever considered moderate on AllTrails is that it is hot! Just like everything in Arizona, hiking is hot so make sure you go early or late in the day, or bring lots and lots of water. I highly suggest using a great hydration backpack!
Another great investment for this hike is a good pair of hiking shoes. We had a couple incidents of stepping on cactus on the hike. Lets just say basic tennis shoes are not gonna stop a prickly pear cactus needle as well as a hiking boot!

Pioneer Arizona Living History Museum
Food, hiking, spa night, now jump back in time and walk through some history. My mama is quite the history buff so we visited this old relic of a town. This museum is a series of old cabins, a church, school house, blacksmith, house, and so on. This old town isn’t just for sight though, there is so much more to it. Every so often do they do gun fight reenactments, plays on an old stage, mining, and other reenactments of the good ol’ west days. There are also plenty of photo ops. If there is a history lovin gal in your group, they will love this old west experience.

Roosevelt Row
Since becoming a mom I am all about the free activities, especially ones that involve lots and lots of pictures! Phoenix, Arizona has so many murals it would take you months to see them all. Luckily there is a street that gives you some of the best murals all within walking distance. Roosevelt Row is a colorful street decorated with murals of all sorts. This is the perfect walk for some great photo ops and it’s all for free! Not to mention there are some really cute shops and restaurants along the way as well.
Location: 695 E Roosevelt St, Phoenix, AZ 85006
Hole In The Rock
I am sure you can tell by now that we are some nature/hiking lovin gals. At the center of Phoenix is the craziest rock formation! I mean it kind of reminds me of Arches National Park with its oddity. At the top of this large rock of a hill is a hole. Hence the name, “hole in the rock.” So of course we had to hike it! This hike is super short, as in 0.3 miles and so easy. From the parking lot you walk around the back of the rock, then make a quick and easy ascent up to the rock and through it for a beautiful view of Pheonix on the other side.
