Juggling life's 2 greatest adventures: Travel and Motherhood

About Me

My little family of 6!

About Me

Howdy doo! My name is Camilla Ross or you can call me Millie. I am the wife to an extremely handsome man that surpasses my dreams and the lucky mama of four incredible and crazy children, ages 5 and under! 1 girl and 3 boys, and if according to my plan more to come! I absolutely ADORE being a mother and am so lucky to be a stay at home mom! Honestly I have no idea what I am doing most of the time, but because of this I have learned a ton over the last 5 years. Hence the reason I decided to start a blog; to help other moms love motherhood as much as I do!

Another passion of mine is traveling! I love to explore and live a life of adventure. Though it might have been easier to travel before I had kids, I am here to share how much more fun it can be traveling with kids. Since being married we have moved from Texas to Colorado, and now are back in the Lonestar state. We are all about the cheap and easiest ways to travel, so follow us on our adventures and find out more about how to adventure out with your kiddos too!

10 Facts to get to know me:

  1. I love lists. I actually carry a notebook around with me every where I go and fill it with different lists. Grocery lists, to do lists, ideas lists, baby names lists, bucket lists, you name it and I have a list for it. Something about checking something off a list just makes me feel so much more accomplished.
  2. I am an animal fanatic. When we go to the library I check out fact books about animals and make my own study journals about them. I also love watching YouTube videos and looking up animals online. I have passed on this love to my kiddos, cause what other 2 year old can watch The Lion King and spends the entire time identifying each animal breed! Haha!
  3. I am a butcher. I studied beef production in college and have worked in a meat market for a good while. My husband loves to hunt and I enjoy cutting up the meat he brings home. Hopefully that does not make me sound like a psychopath.
  4. I am deadly afraid of zombies and mummies! My mother loves museums and so all growing up we would go to all sorts of museums, but if there was an ancient Egypt section I completely avoided it. There is no way I am going anywhere near a preserved mummy. Unfortunately my husband knows my fear and regularly pretends to be a zombie to terrify me. He even has taught my 2 oldest kids to run at me like a zombie while making zombie noises. It is awful!
  5. Despite the fact that I am awful at it, I love to dance. I am obsessed with Zumba. My kids and I have daily dance parties. I don’t really care for video games, but I do enjoy the Just Dance games. Really anything that has to do with dancing I am totally on board! Now saying that I am not kidding about being an awful dancer. I honestly look like a penguin when I dance, but it still hasn’t stopped me from enjoying it!
  6. I love America! Now this may not be an odd fact, but it is a pretty big part of me. I am a huge traveler, but nothing beats this land that I love. Having been to 46 of the 50 states I have been awed by each in some way. I love our diversity from desert to city to forest to mountains. No matter where I go in life I will always come back home to the land I love the most, USA!
  7. I despise onions with a passion. Yes, I am one of those people. Now don’t get me wrong, my mama taught me to be polite so if someone makes me something with onions in it, I will eat it. I just will dread every bite. You will notice that none of my recipes use onions, I will go out of my way to avoid them!
  8. I am all about all things western. My favorite smells are leather and horses. I listen to country music nonstop. Am a huge John Wayne fan! I own multiple pairs of cowboy boots, follow the rodeo circuit, and can tell you every little fact about horses and cows. There are pictures of horses throughout my house. I adore button up plaid shirts and cowhide belts. I am a wanna be cowgirl through and through.
  9. For 18 months of my life I spent living in Seattle, Washington serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In this time I spent teaching the people of this area about Jesus Christ and helping them make changes to come unto Him. I love being a witness of Christ and bearing my testimony of Him! Because of Him and my Heavenly Father, I am who I am today!
  10. I have a love/hate relationship with running. Running has been a part of me throughout my life and I love it and despise it. I dread running, but force myself to do it. The entire time I am running I question my sanity for making the free choice to put myself in that kind of agony. Then I finish and I LOVE it! I love that I can push myself so hard. I love seeing what I can accomplish and I love how healthy I feel afterwards.

Why I decided to make a blog?

Someone once asked me what my hobbies were. I remember thinking that was a funny question because it was so simple. Yet for the life of me I couldn’t think of anything other than being a mother. Sure before I was a mother I loved to run, read, train dogs, paint, draw, and dance; but now my hobby is being a mom. And you know what? It is my FAVORITE hobby! I love being a mother!! It is by far the best thing I have ever done in life and though it is harder than heck, it is wonderful!

Now being a mother is hard and the more kids I have the more I realize this. It is exhausting, daunting, and pretty much impossible work. I have been so grateful for other mama’s giving me advice to help me through it and after having 4 kids myself I figured it was my turn to share some of the things I have learned along the way. My hope is to be like the moms that have helped me so much and share my knowledge to someone starting out on this amazing journey.

Idk stands for, “I don’t know,” and honestly that is my answer to motherhood. I have no idea what I am doing, but I am figuring it out day by day! I have learned so much and I want to share with other mothers who may be just trying to figure it out as they go as well! Hope I can help make motherhood your favorite hobby as well!
