Austin is the capital of Texas! It is a hub of excitement, traffic, beauty, and adventure! This is the number 3 most visited city in Texas and for good reason! There is so much to do in the city you could do something new every day for a year and still not even make a dent in all there is to do. But honestly what makes Austin such an amazing place is what surrounds it.
Surrounding Austin are incredible small towns with waterfalls, wildflowers, gorgeous state parks, and delicious restaurants. One of these fun small towns is Stonewall, Texas. This small hill country town is surrounded by vineyards and decorated with small peach vendors. This is a place for families, girls trips, couple getaways, and senior road trips. This town is has the small town charm with fresh orchards of delicious treats. Welcome to Stonewall, Texas!
Where is Stonewall?
Just north of San Antonio is a gorgeous busy little town called Fredericksburg. This fun town is the Texas version of a small German town. Tons of German eateries and adorably decorated buildings. Due to its German vibe of course it has tons of Biergartens and several distilleries. I don’t drink, but these breweries and vineyards are GORGEOUS!
As you drive east through Fredericksburg you will drive past hundreds of breweries and vineyards and this is where you will find the small peach town of Stonewall, Texas.
This small town is located between Fredericksburg and Johnson City, Texas. Two incredible and beautiful places with an amazing town squashed between them.

Pet Blake the Rhino
There are Rhinos and there are wineries, and now there is a Rhinory. Meet Blake the Rhino! A big Rhino that loves to be loved! I don’t drink so the wine tasting doesn’t really appeal to me, but you had me at Rhino!
As we walked up to this beautiful winery, my kids were given a gift basket of a capris sun and animal cookies to enjoy as they explored the grounds. Inside the building are tables for people to sit and purchase the wine surrounded by all things Rhino! It is such a beautiful building.
The back of the building is completely open to get a view of Blake the magnificent Rhino. You can pay to get close to him for pictures and scratches! What a cool experience!

Hike to see the Bison
If I could list offs all of the gems of Texas all I would really have to do is list the Texas State Parks. Texas has a large variety of incredible state parks and Stonewall, Texas houses one of those state parks. The 36th president of the United States of America called Stonewall, Texas his home. So no surprise that the state park in the area is named after him.
The Lyndon B Johnson State Park is more of a living historical site than just admiring the natural beauty of Texas that most state parks represent. There is a beautiful historic trail that takes you through a small farm area. This historic farm area has park rangers dressed like the times and teaching about the historic life on the farm.
It is an actual farm too, so not only do you get nature, hiking, and a historic living farm, you also get the animals! You can hike to see giant longhorns, a herd of bison, sheep, dairy cows, turkeys, and chickens.
