What Is There To Do At Aggieland Safari?

Aggieland Safari is more than a zoo, it is a safari! Going to a zoo you get to walk from exhibit to exhibit to admire the animals. A safari is like a zoo, but way cooler!! Instead of walking from exhibit to exhibit, there is only one exhibit. One giant exhibit that all the animals of this zoo share. Instead of walking through this exhibit, you get to drive thru it! Another perk is that not only do you get to just watch the animals, you get to interact with them by feeding them!

A good Aggieland Safari tip is to hold your kids while driving thru the safari so they don't get scared.

This is where you will find lemurs and monkeys; animals that can’t be let loose on a safari. Also there are other animals that you can feed like Llamas, sheep, pigs, and donkeys.

If you are willing to pay extra, there are also more personal animal encounters available. You can spend time with a Tamandua, go behind the scenes on the reptile tour, feed some Giraffes, and pet a giant Capybara. All of these things are available at Aggieland Safari!

Tips For Visiting Aggieland Safari:

  • Buy a bag instead of a cup. More comes in a bag then a cup so its more worth the money!
  • Buy more than one bag! The pellets are at the Aggieland Safari are a little bit larger than other safaris, so you will run out a lot faster. We ran out of pellets before we were even halfway through the drive thru.
  • Hold your kids in your lap. If you have little kids, they will enjoy the experience a lot more on your lap then in their seats. If you can imagine a 2 year old face to face with a giant camel sticking its head in the window trying to eat, yeah it causes a little bit of terror. If you want to keep your kids calm and help them enjoy the process, let them sit on your lap.
  • Keep the feed in the center of your car! Though most animals will wait for you to throw the food out the window, some will stick their heads right it. They are sticking their heads in for the food and they will not leave until they get the food. So guard the food and keep it as far away from the window as possible!
  • Arrive when it opens! Nothing is more annoying than having to wait in a line. Drive thru safaris are so much more fun if you don’t have to wait in a line of cars to get to the animals. If you get to the safari first thing in the morning you can drive through Aggieland Safari as many times as you would like without having people hog all the animals.

Aggieland Safari stands as a testament to the wild spirit that thrives in the heart of Texas. It is a unique experience full of education and fun. I loved the assortment of activities offered as well as the variety of animals. Every turn around the drive thru there was a new species racing towards our car for a pellet treat.

As an animal lover this was a such a fun experience, but what was even more fun was being a mom watching the magic in my kids eyes as they pet a Wildebeest or threw a pellet towards an ostrich. Aggieland Safari is the kind of place where you will empty your bag of feed, but fill your heart with the sweetest memories. Would I go back? Yes, without a doubt I would! Should you go? Yes! Be sure to add Aggieland Safari to you next family adventure in Texas!
