You see one here! You see one there! You see one everywhere! You can not drive through Odessa, Texas without seeing the giant colorful jack rabbit statues along the side of the road. These 31 iconic Odessa jackrabbits are a symbol of this west Texas town that many people see, but not many stop and enjoy. Little do most people know, you can get more to visiting these rabbits then just enjoying the art…..
Let’s Play A Game
That’s right, we are harnessing our Elmer Fudd and going on a rabbit hunt! The city of Odessa has made these jackrabbits into a scavenger hunt to find at least 16, and what is a scavenger hunt without a reward in the end!
How to get started:
- Go to discoverodessa.org and click on the 3 bars at the right side of the screen. Click the down arrow to the Explore section and click the Jackrabbit Jamboree Pass.
- Go ahead and click the sign up button and fill in your information accordingly. (it goes through the process like you are making a purchase, but don’t freak out, it is completely FREE)
- Once you get your text message or email, download the app.
How the app works:
- In order for this app to work properly you will need to turn on your location on your phone.
- There are 2 pages that are very helpful when it comes to helping you find and identify the rabbits. At the bottom of the screen is a bar and on the far left is a house button and next to it is a location button.
- The Home icon- This page has a list of all the bunnies that you are looking for in your scavenger hunt. There is a picture of each with the address, name, and location description of each rabbit. There is also a check in button under each rabbit. When you arrive at a rabbit, MAKE SURE YOUR LOCATION IS ON, and then click the check in button. The app will then confirm that you are at the location of that particular rabbit and check it off your list.
- The Map icon- This page is what it says it is, a map of Odessa. On this map are red location marks for each rabbit. This page is to help you see what rabbits are around you so you can plan your route accordingly. Also if you click on the red location icons it will tell you the name of the rabbit and the exact address of where the rabbit is at.
Helpful Hints:
- The addresses to the rabbits on the app are not all exactly accurate. In fact some of them are WAY off! The addresses I have listed here on my sight are way more accurate.
- The descriptions of where the rabbit is located are more accurate than the address given.
- In order to check in at a rabbit you do have to be within 0.25miles of the address designated for each rabbit, even if the rabbit is not at that address.
- To help you not have to drive all over the place follow the rabbits in order with my list below.
Let The Rabbit Hunt Begin
1. Power Jack
2951 Interstate 20 Service Rd
This is one of those rabbits that the app has off so make sure you use the above address instead! Sitting at the corner of 1-20 Service Road and JBS Parkway, this colorful industrial bunny awaits to welcome visitors to the Saulsbury Industries offices.
2. Sitting Hare
3901 E Business Loop 20
Yet another address that will lead you to an hotel instead of the proper location. This Native American designed rabbit is hiding next to the island of plants in front of the Texas Department of Transportation. This will probably be the best visit you ever take to this office!
3. RawHare
6201 1-20BL
Blending in with the building, this one of Odessa jackrabbits sits in front of the MCM Grande FunDome Hotel! It is a bright yellow rabbit with an oil derrick on its rump. If you can see the flag, you can see the rabbit!
4. Gusher The Hare
6501 E Business 20
After you see the RawHare rabbit, just follow the road down a short distance to the Extra Space Storage Unit building. It is a large, fancy, gated storage building and right out front of the building itself is the red oil derrick Gusher The Hare! Unfortunately, this rabbit is behind bars so you will have to admire and take your picture from afar. If you follow the app address it will take you to an apartment complex, so be sure to look for the gated storage unit down the street from MCM Grande.
5. Panama Jack
5200 E University Blvd
This one of the Odessa jackrabbits is definitely one of my top 3 favorite bunnies! This colorful rabbit is right off of the road on E University, in front of the Shrimp Boat Restaurant (which might I add is delicious! Pricey, but amazing!) Blue, green, and yellow sunset show off an oil donkey on the rump of the rabbit, and it is beautiful!
6. Patchwork Rabbit
5050 E University Blvd
So you know how I said sometimes the app addresses are way off, well this one is WAY off!! DO NOT FOLLOW THE APP ADDRESS! The app will lead you to Red Lobster, but this rabbit is actually off of E University across the street from the Presidential Archives Museum. It is sitting by the road in front of Sims & Guess Realtors. This was my daughter’s favorite bunny, cause it has pink on it, but the funny thing is it has all the colors on it! This rabbit looks like someone sewed a patchwork quilt around him!
7. Gentle Jack
4712 E University Blvd
Go down the road a little bit more and you will find my mom’s favorite rabbit. A plain rabbit sitting in a pile of flowers, guarding The Art Of Dentistry Building.
8. J. Ben Jr.
4901 E University Blvd
Time for another rabbit that is way off point of the app address! So instead of driving all over UTPB looking for this lost rabbit, just drive straight on over to UTPB’s library. Sitting in the garden next to the building across from the buffalo statue is the hare you are looking for. He is definitely in stealth mode though cause he blends right into the brown building with his plain brown color.
9. Freedom Bunny
5251 E 42nd St
My second favorite rabbit sits in front of the Freedom Buick, GMC Truck; welcoming anyone arriving from Midland off of 191. This American rabbit is decorated with the stars, the bald eagle, the Statue of Liberty, and the American mustang (and I do mean the horse not the car). It is a beautiful rabbit that symbolizes what America stands for, Freedom!
10. Goodnight Rabbit
3933 John Ben Shepperd
This Odessa jackrabbit is a portrayal of the city at night and encourages you to catch some zzz’s at the 2 hotels it is sitting between; Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn.
11. Jack McRabbit
4911 E 42nd St
This flowery gentleman rabbit is one of the 2 rabbits that sit on the corner of JBS Parkway and 42nd St. He is the one facing 42nd St.
12. Cactus Jack
4937 E 42nd St
Partnering with Jack McRabbit, Cactus Jack sits on the corner of JBS Parkway and 42nd St as well. Difference is he is facing JBS Parkway and embracing a different kind of elegance then Jack McRabbit’s suit; the elegant beauty of the desert cactus.
13. Multiplying Bunny
5201 John Ben Sheppard Pkwy
On the corner of JBS Parkway and 52nd St sits this Odessa jackrabbit. It is an odd rabbit with several cracks of different themes to each cracked portion of the rabbit. It is guarding Southwest Bank.
14. Blue Denim Gal
4241 Tanglewood Ln
If you are following the app, the pretty girl rabbit should be right by the Gentle Jack. Wrong again app! She is actually sitting next to the front doors, on the northside of the Junior League of Odessa office. Follow the address above to help you find her!
15. Texas “Hare”tage
3801 E 42nd St
This odd rabbit, that is a sitting advertisement of Texas tourism is sitting next to the garden section of a true symbol of Texas, HEB.
16. Money Bunny
3800 E 42nd St
Across the street from HEB, is Chase Bank. What better way to decorate a bank in Odessa than to put a jackrabbit in front of it and paint it with the symbols on dollars? This white and green bunny is sitting in the grass at the northeastern corner of the bank.
17. Texas Jack
2710 N Grandview Ave
Odessa loves to stick these Odessa jackrabbits in front of their banks cause this rabbit painted with cactus and the Texas state flag is facing N Grandview Ave and guarding Frost Bank.
18. Fiesta Hare
3511 Maple Ave
Welcoming students as they enter Burnett Elementary school sits a beautiful Hispanic white rabbit.
19. Rugs Bunny
6120 N Dixie Blvd
Sadly, not all the Odessa jackrabbits are in locations that you can get too close to them. This rabbit sits out front of Advance Carpet Cleaning, but is surrounded by a fence so you can admire from a distance. I do mean you will admire too, cause it is a beautiful mapped rabbit.
20. Hare On A Hog
3411 N County Rd W
“Rabbits are faster than hogs,” says the motorcyclist rabbit that sits on the pavement in front of Bearing Supply Co.
21. Boat Bunny
3633 Andrews Hwy
Another on of the Odessa jackrabbits that you can see, but not touch. This boating bunny is gated at the corner of an abandoned parking lot, next to A3 Storage Centers.
22. Pump Jack Harvey
2535 N Jackson Ave
Most of the rabbits are alongside busy roads, but this rabbit didn’t get the hint. Located off of N Jackson Ave at the side, not even the front of the building, of Flex 24 Fitness Gym. Don’t worry though about having trouble finding it though, this bright purple and pink rabbit really sticks out next to these brown buildings.
23. Symphony De Bunny
Intersection of W 23rd St and US Hwy 385
This rabbit is tricky, because I cannot give you an actual address for it, but it is at Odessa College. If you follow the app it will lead you to the wrong side of campus. This musical rabbit is on the southern side of campus sitting right in front of the Odessa College sign.
24. What’s Up Doc
701 W 5th St
What is another name for a superhero? Oh yeah, a doctor! This red painted doctor is representing its colors sitting at the entrance of the Texas Tech Physicians office next to the MCH hospital. If you are at the address and can not find the rabbit, you are probably just on the wrong side of the building.
25. Peter O’Hare M.D.
500 N Washington St
Parallel park in front of the Permian Orthopedic Office, cause you are super close to 2 rabbits! Peter O’Hare M.D. sits just on the pavement in front of the office.
26.Big Sky Bunny
540 W 5th St
The next bunny that is close by, is next to the entrance of the parking garage of MCH Hospital just across the street from Peter O’Hare M.D.
27. Hop To The Beat Of The Basin
411 W 8th St
Dance your way over to Odessa Texas City Hall, cause sitting out front is your next rabbit.
28. John Ben Jackrabbit
802 N Sam Houston Ave
Across the street from the Hop to the Beat of the Basin Rabbit is the largest rabbit of them all. He is sitting near the entrance to the parking lot the ECISD Administration Building closest to N Sam Houston Ave and facing W 8th St.
29. Li’l Lioness & Friends
Intersection of N Tom Green Ave and E 7th St
Here is yet another rabbit that I cannot actually give an address for. Or should I say rabbits? These rabbits are my favorite rabbits. Resting under the trees at Progressive Park are 2 blue rabbits, covered in animals! I am an animal fanatic, so I loved the lions and monkeys and giraffe decorating these 2 rabbits.
30. An American Tribute
620 N Grant Ave
We are coming to an end to our scavenger hunt with only 2 Odessa jackrabbits left to go. Luckily they are 2 that are right across the street from each other. This rabbit is in front of Prosperity Bank.
31. Uncle Sam Rabbit
700 N Grant Ave
And this rabbit is in front of Bank of America! Uncle Sam Rabbit is the last rabbit to visit before walking into the building behind it, up the stairs, to the Odessa Chamber of Commerce. Show the receptionist at the front desk the email or text message you received completing your rabbit hunt and await your prize!
The Prize!
Once you have checked in at 16 Odessa jackrabbits you are eligible to receive your reward. You have the option of having your reward mailed to you, but I do have to warn you, it can take a month to actually get to you.
The better and more fun option is to go to the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and pick up your prize yourself! This building is located on the second floor of the Bank of America building in downtown Odessa.
Your prize is super cute!! Get your own miniature stuffed replica of John Ben Jackrabbit, the biggest jackrabbit of them all! A super cute prize to remember the rabbits that decorate this West Texas town! So join in the hunt, check in with some rabbits, and have some fun exploring the town!

I’m not sure exactly why but this blog is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.
Hope it loaded faster for you! I hate it when things lag.
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you have done a very good job with this. In addition, the blog loads super quick for me on Firefox. Exceptional Blog!
Very efficiently written story. It will be useful to anybody who usess it, including me. Keep up the good work – looking forward to more posts.
Glad you liked it! Make sure you share some of your rabbit pics if you go on the Odessa Jackrabbit hunt!
