I love to travel! If you are reading this, then I guess you do to. But I am also a mom. A mom of 4 little kids who loves to travel. I could have picked so many cheaper hobbies, but nope I chose the 2 most expensive hobbies ever; motherhood and traveling. Since becoming a mom I feel like my kids have actually fed my travel addiction and are constantly begging me to take them on their next adventure. I am all too happy to oblige, but there is one major problem we face with our travel addiction; it is expensive!
Lodging, food, activities, transportation, flights, passport fees, exchanging money fees, tips, and the list goes on. You get the picture, it is a costly endeavor and even more so adding children to the pot. BUT IT IS SO WORTH IT! Watching my kids hold an alligator, swim in the ocean, ride a horse, and hike a mountain are the most priceless, incredible experiences ever. Way better than experiencing it by myself. It is almost like I get to experience the same event 5 times, by experiencing it myself and through each of my kids! Traveling with kids is AMAZING!
So obviously if I wanted to keep traveling after having my adventurous children, I had to figure some ways to cut the expenses involved in traveling. While I have a whole list of things we have done to make traveling more financially possible for us (which you can read in this article, click here), I am going to focus on one that has given us so many experiences and saved us so much money; the Get Out Pass.
What is the Get Out Pass and How Will It Save Me Money?
I am always looking for free things to do with my kids, but honestly spending money on this pass has given me a huge variety of free things to do with my kids. I know that makes no sense right? Spending money is the exact opposite of free! Hang in there and here me out.
Normally when people are say hey, “buy this and you get this for free,” I think that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, but this pass actually does make sense. Let me explain.
Let’s say you are going to visit San Antonio, Texas for a 5 day vacation. In those 5 days you are most likely going to do something other than just sit around in your hotel room. Lets say you do one activity a day. First day the San Antonio Zoo ($31.99), second the San Antonio Aquarium ($24.95), third day ZDT’s Amusement Park ($27.99), fourth you rent Pedego Bikes to bike to each of the San Antonio missions ($20), and last day you visit the Frontier Times Museum ($8). In total one activity a day is going to cost you $112.93! For one activity a day!
This is where the Get Out Pass comes into play. Instead of paying $112.93 to do these activities, how about paying $59.95 for all of these, plus about 80 other fun activities!!
This pass is a onetime payment for an entire year of fun! On each pass is a list of places you can go and activities you can try all free because you bought the pass. The activities range in a large variety from theme parks, to zoos, to museums, sports games, paintball, arcades, classes for learning skills, art, bowling, waterparks, axe throwing, and so much more!
The pass itself cost money, but the activities that come from them are completely free!!
Tips For How To Get Your Get Out Pass For Even Cheaper:
- Black Friday has the best deals! For example I purchased the Dallas pass during Black Friday, originally it is $79.95. For Black Friday I got this pass for $14.95! That is $65 off!!
- Buy your pass during a holiday. Get Out Pass is always have sales. Labor Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, etc. These are the best times to purchase a pass.

Things To Know About The Get Out Pass:
- Some of the activities on the passes you can use more than once a year. Some are just once a year, others weekly, some quarterly, and some just twice a year.
- You can buy this pass as a gift!! It is the best gift ever and actually what I ask for each year. On the website when you purchase your pass just checkout as gift and you will receive codes to give to the person you are buying it for.
- The pass is per person, it is not a family pass and will not cover more than just the one person.
- You do NOT need to buy a pass for children 2 and under. It is not worth it, most places will let 2 and under in for FREE!
The Cons Of The Get Out Pass:
- Each pass is per a specific area. You can’t just buy a pass that gets you into everything everywhere, not that you would ever get to use everything on it in time. Each pass is per area. You buy the Kentucky pass it will only work in Kentucky. If you want the pass for Las Vegas, you will have to buy a separate pass.
- It isn’t commonly known. It is not a very well known pass and though a business is listed on the pass, the workers of that business may not have ever seen this pass before. It has happened a lot at places that workers have had to go get their managers to explain the pass to them. I have never been rejected from something I have on my pass, but be prepared to wait for a manager to come and process it a lot of times.
- My biggest peeve with this pass is that though you purchase the pass, it doesn’t always mean you can use it whenever you want. Each activity that you can do with the pass has a limitation to when you can use it. For instances, some activities you can only visit on a weekday and some you aren’t allowed to use on holidays.
- Some of the activities will only give you free entry, but to participate you will need to make additional purchases. For instance, the Austin Aquarium, the pass will get you admission into the aquarium, if you want tokens to feed the animals you will have to purchase that separate.
- If a reservation is required to do the activity you will most likely have to call the to book it, instead of book online. Most of the places don’t have Get Out Pass Code at their check out.
Is The Get Out Pass Worth It?
When I first became a travel influencer, I got a ton of offers to sell products for different companies. I refused so many companies because I am not going to try and sell something I don’t agree with. So that should tell you that I am not just out to sell these passes, I really wish families all over the USA knew about these passes. These passes have opened up a door for my family to do countless things that we never could have done before.
