Learn how to have the best UFO experience in Roswell with kids

If you are looking for an experience that is out of this world than Roswell, New Mexico is the place to be! Okay I guess still in the world, but with visitors from beyond this planet. Trust me you have never experienced a town like this one before. Prepare yourself to come face to face with the extraterrestrials!

History of Aliens in Roswell:

Back in 1947, a rancher found some debris in his pasture that no one could identify. Not long after the air force arrived, collected the mysterious objects, and took off with them. They claimed it was just a weather balloon that had crashed, but for those that believe….this was a sign that aliens had attempted to come to our planet!

Roswell New Mexico has many alien murals

Many people still believe the government is actively trying to cover up the proof of these UFOs, so the town of Roswell has become a central ground of alien conspiracy and sightings. Visit for yourself to find out if you believe, because in Roswell, New Mexico they do believe!

Common Questions About Taking Kids To Roswell:

  • Is this a kid friendly place? Yes! What kid isn’t fascinated by aliens. This is a fun place for all ages. There are activities for everyone.
  • Is it a good place to take toddlers? Yes and no! So I highly advise if you bring toddlers, that you explain UFO’s to them first. Explain what they are, that they won’t hurt you toddler, and that they are safe. It is a really strange and unique thing for a toddler to experience. If you make them comfortable with the idea of aliens, they will love this place; if you don’t they will be terrified.
  • What should I bring? Roswell is super hot for the majority of the year. I highly suggest you dress for heat, and bring sunscreen. If you have toddlers or babies, I would bring a stroller, because you will probably be walking around quite a bit. Also I would dress in white or lighter clothes so that when you go through the UFO Spacewalk, you will not only look cool in the black light, but it will help you keep track of your kids in the dark rooms.

International UFO Museum

This is the best place to start your UFO journey and have a UFO experience in Roswell. This museum is filled with articles, stories, and facts to help you get the history and background of Roswell and all of its aliens. I know that was a super boring description and actually makes you want to skip this museum.

The International UFO museum is pretty quirky

What if I told you there are alien photo ops in this museum and a small showing of the aliens landing on the planet? Yep we are talking mystical music, fog, the space ship lighting up, the whole deal. It kinda freaked my toddlers out for a second, but they thought is was super cool.

There is a ton of alien art work, an alien dissection area, and even an astronaut. The museum itself is very small and unless you really like to read there isn’t much to it. I am pretty sure we walked through the whole thing in about 5 minutes, maybe 8. I still enjoyed it though just because of how unique an experience it is.

Roswell UFO Spacewalk

This was my favorite alien thing to do in Roswell, New Mexico! Just as you walk up to the building you hear the eerie music of the space creatures! The detail is what makes this place SO fun!

The Spacewalk is a fun UFO experience in Roswell, New Mexico
Make sure you visit the UFO Spacewalk in Roswell

Before you start, you get your bracelet that allows you to go through as many times as you want that day! It is a short experience and so this makes the fee to do it more worth it. You can go through as many times as you want!

So what makes this place really fun is that the entire building is dark and blacked out. The only light in through the building and rooms are black lights. So everything is glowing! Make sure you wear white or bright colors so you can glow too!

The whole UFO Spacewalk is under black light

To start you walk through the rays of the spaceship, get scanned by an alien, and then you walk into this giant room that looks like you are walking in space! IT IS SUPER COOL! Follow the alien footprints and walk through the tunnel and turn in the room that is like walking through another planet. Aliens, monster flowers, skeletons, and lots of eye balls watching you! It is so fun!

Is the UFO Spacewalk okay for toddlers?

Please read before you take your toddlers!! So if you want to take toddlers on this spacewalk you need to prepare them first. I suggest letting them touch some aliens around town, tell them that aliens are nice, and make them feel safe with UFOS. If you just spring this walk on them, they will be terrified!

It is dark, there are monsters, and they can’t see anything. It is scary for the little ones, but if you explain it to them before hand and either hold them or their hands, they will be okay. Saying this, you know your kid, if they scare easily, then don’t go. If they can handle a little scary, (and for adults this is not scary at all) then they will love it.

I do advise that you put your toddlers in white shirts or something bright so that you can see them at all times, it is really dark and you can’t really see much that isn’t glowing, so dress you toddler so you won’t lose them.

McDonalds isn’t your typical McDonalds! They have converted the building into a spaceship and surrounding the spaceship are ALIENS!! You will only see this mural if you do drive thru!
