Red Plate Diner

Millionaire Ice Cream is a giant ice cream in Midland Texas

If I am going out for ice cream, this is where I want to go! The Red Plate Diner is the most adorable little old fashioned diner. The vintage red round table tops, checkered floor, a bar area just for eating ice cream, and mirrors around the tables! It is such a cute vintage diner!

A classic diner compete with all the classic diner foods. Burgers, fries, club sandwiches, and a large variety of breakfast foods. The food is good, but the ice cream!! Oh it is SO good! They literally have an entire menu just dedicated to different types of ice creams, malts, shakes, and floats. This place has everything you are looking for when it comes to ice cream!

If you think you can handle it, they even have giant ice creams; the Millionaire and the Billionaire. The Millionaire is your choice flavors of 5 scoops of ice cream, plus 4 of your choice toppings, whipped cream, almonds, and a cherry on top!! And the Billionaire is even bigger with 8 scoops of ice cream, 8 toppings, whip cream, almonds, and a cherry on top. So pretty much ice cream heaven!!

Fountainville

For the most West Texas ice cream, you have to visit Fountainville in Midland, Texas

The most West Texas place to get ice cream in Midland, Texas. Their flavors are the tastes of West Texas and I have never seen flavors or ice creams like this! For instances their flavors consist of Corn Bread, Tumbleweed, Caliche, Sandstorm, Ranch Road, and El Chupacabra. These flavors are so unique and combined with ingredients I never would have thought of! I mean who has ever had cornbread in their ice cream.

The crown jewel flavor of Fountainville, and most West Texas flavor has 100% got to be their Black Gold. This is oil country, so it just makes sense to order some Black Gold ice cream, and I do mean black!! This ice cream is graham cracker flavored, with honey, and drum roll please……food grade activated charcoal (Hence the reason for the black color). Like I said, Fountainville is the tastes of West Texas!

CreamLab N7

During the fall, the best place to get ice cream is at the Cream Lab N7 in Midland, Texas.

Red Plate Diner has the biggest ice cream, Fountainville has the most unique flavors, while CreamLab N7 has the coolest experience. This isn’t your typical ice cream place! Normally when you walk into an ice cream shop, you look through the glass at the flavors and they scoop it up, and hand it over.

Well at the CreamLab N7 there is no premade ice cream, it is all made fresh after you order. This ice cream is mixed up and then frozen using freezing liquid Nitrogen. We visited at Halloween time and it was the perfect spooky activity as the smoke from the liquid Nitrogen looked almost like a witches cauldron!

Speaking of going around Halloween, this is the best time to come because this is when they have their Pumpkin Cheesecake Flavor Ice Cream!! Holy cow it is rich with pumpkin! They have some really fun flavors!

Okay Menchies may not be ice cream, but it is frozen yogurt and basically the same concept! It is cold and it is delicious! Menchies is like the ice cream version of Subway or Chipotle! You grab your bowl, pick your ice cream, and add all the toppings. It’s a build your own ice cream shop! The price of your treat is determined by the weight at the end.

Lets bring a little bit of Italy to Midland, Texas with some gelato. I LOVE gelato! Midland has one gelato shop and that is Amara Gelato. It is the most European experience in town!

You will just feel fancy eating it. I mean the flavors just sound fancy; like Honey Lavender, Blueberry Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie, Salted Carmel, and Stracciatella. They don’t just sound good, trust me, they taste good as well.

Also it is the same experience as Menchies, you grab your bowl, pick your ice cream, and top it off with your favorites.

The price of your treat is determined by weight at the end. Only significant difference between Menchies and Orange Leaf is that everything is decorated in orange instead of pink!
